Thyretain utilizes a genetically engineered cell line that expresses a human Thyroid Stimulating Hormone receptor (hTSHr) and a Luciferase reporter gene. The luciferase enzyme is measured through a luciferase-luciferin chemiluminescent reaction when the cell line is incubated with patient serum containing Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulins (TSI).
